Sermon Notes:

EPHESIANS 6:5-9 NIV

5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.
6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.
7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men,
8 because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.
9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Your life at work should show that God is at work in your life.

I. WORKERS ARE TO LABOR IN A GODLY WAY

7 And work with a smile on your face, always keeping in mind that no matter who happens to be giving the orders, you’re really serving God.

wholeheartedly | Greek: eunoia
“goodwill.”

B. WORK FOR THE RIGHT AUDIENCE

EPHESIANS 6:6 KJV

6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

When a Christian does his/her work as the will of God, it changes from simple to sacred.

II. LEADERS ARE TO MANAGE IN A GRACIOUS WAY

A. AUTHENTICITY

Authenticity matches who we are with what we do.

B. FAIRNESS

Behind every earthly master stands the heavenly Master.

III. GOD REPAYS IN A GENEROUS WAY

God compensates your good with his good.

HEBREWS 6:10 NIV

10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
