Sermon Notes:
ISAIAH 40:28-31 ESV
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. 30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; 31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
GOD GIVES STRENGTH TO THOSE WHO RECOGNIZE WHO HE IS
ISAIAH 40:27 ESV
27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, and my right is disregarded by my God”?
It is not the greatness of the problems that matter; rather it is the greatness of God that makes a difference.
PSALMS 90:2 ESV
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
The One who creates the thing is greater than the thing he creates and he reigns over it.
LAMENTATIONS 3:22-23 ESV
22 The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
The God who never grows weary is not tired of you.
PSALMS 145:3 ESV
3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.
GOD GIVES STRENGTH TO THOSE WHO ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR WEAKNESS
PHILIPPIANS 4:13 ESV
13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
PSALMS 73:26 ESV
26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
To receive power from the Lord, we must acknowledge our weakness.
2 CORINTHIANS 12:9-10 ESV
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
GOD GIVES STRENGTH TO THOSE WHO DETERMINE TO WAIT ON HIM
We are not waiting for something; we are waiting for Someone.
The God who created you is the God who sustains you.
