Discipleship is not how much or what we have to offer but a “saying goodbye” of all that we think we can offer.
Sermon Title: CALLED TO BE A DISCIPLE
Sermon Text: LUKE 9:23 (NIV)
By: PTR NESTOR SY
Sermon Notes:
LUKE 9:23 NIV
23 Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
How you see life defines life.
I. A DISCIPLE DECIDES TO FOLLOW.
Jesus is looking for people who want to become his disciples.
JOHN 6:66 NIV
66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
Life is a matter of choices. And every choice determines the direction we make.
II. A DISCIPLE DENIES HIMSELF/HERSELF. (Allegiance)
PHILIPPIANS 3:7-8 NIV
7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ.
III. A DISCIPLE DIES DAILY. (Surrender)
When you’re dead, what you value no longer matters.
IV. A DISCIPLE IS A DEVOTED FOLLOWER (Passion)
Discipleship is not how much or what we have to offer but a “saying goodbye” of all that we think we can offer.
