How To Wait On God

Waiting is as much faith as taking the initiative.

Sermon Title: HOW TO WAIT ON GOD

Scripture Text: ECCLESIASTES 3:11 NLT

Sermon Notes:

ECCLESIASTES 3:11 NLT

11 “God does everything just right and on time.
But people can never completely understand what he's doing.”

What do I need to REMEMBER when I’m in the waiting room of life?

Remember there’s a natural delay between planting and harvesting.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-5 NLT

1 For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
2 A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.

I reap in a different season than I sow.

Remember there’s an unseen battle going on.

Ephesians 6:12 NLT

12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Daniel 10:11-13 NLT

11 And the man said to me, “Daniel, you are very precious to God…
12 Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. 13 But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia.

A delay is not a denial.

Remember God is preparing me for His blessing.

1 Peter 1:6-7 NLT

6 There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.
7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold.

Waiting is always a test.

Romans 2:24-28 MSG

Waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don’t see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy. Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

Remember I’m in good company when waiting on God.

Hebrews 11:2 ICB

2 People who lived in the past became famous because of faith.

Hebrews 6:15 NLT

15 Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.

Remember God always keeps His promises.

Focus on what God does have what God can do.

Habakkuk 2:3 CEV

3 At the time I have decided, my words will come true. You can trust what I say about the future.
It may take a long time, but keep on waiting— it will happen!

Remember there’s a natural delay between planting and harvesting.
Remember there’s an unseen battle going on
Remember God is preparing me for His blessing.
Remember I’m in good company when waiting on God.
Remember God always keeps His promises.

Isaiah 40:31

31 Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
