Time stops for no one and no one can stop time. With time, change happens.
Sermon Title: BEING TRANSFORMED
Sermon Text: ROMANS 12:1-2 NIV
Sermon Series: WE ARE THE CHURCH
By: PTR. NIC SY
Sermon Notes:
ROMANS 12:1-2 NIV
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-- his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Time stops for no one and no one can stop time.
The Christian journey is a journey of transformation.
I. TRANSFORMATION IS ABOUT CHANGE
2 CORINTHIANS 3:18 NIV
18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
ROMANS 8:29a THE MESSAGE
29 God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. …
Church ought to be where life change is the norm.
II. TRANSFORMATION IS A CHOICE
It’s a divine operation with human cooperation.
Church ought to be a place where personal choice is made for God’s change to take place.
III. TRANSFORMATION INVOLVES CULTIVATION
Birth is the event, growing up is the process.
ROMANS 12:2 NIV
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-- his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Your mind matters to God.
There is no way to renew your mind apart from the Word of God.
What we feed our minds ultimately affects our souls.
IV. TRANSFORMATION IS CONSEQUENTIAL
ROMANS 12:2 NIV
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-- his good, pleasing and perfect will.
When transformation happens, knowledge of God’s will is a natural consequence.
We make the choice to let him change us, then, he will make his ways known to us.
