Agents Of Love

“God is the source of love. Jesus is the proof of love. We are the agents of love in this world.”

Sermon Title: AGENTS OF LOVE

Scripture Text: GALATIANS 5:22-23

Sermon Notes:

GALATIANS 5:22-23 NASB

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

“The contrast between the flesh and the Spirit are most evident when we observe what each produces. Neutrality does not exist between them. Those who remain in the flesh … will generate the evidence of a life dominated by sin. In distinction, those who are in Christ will manifest the evidence of His character by the indwelling Spirit.
The fruit of the Spirit is not an option for a Christian but the necessary evidence that a person is truly a Christian.” — Phil Newton

“Fruitfulness does not happen in a vacuum.”

GALATIANS 5:25 NASB

25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

“Genuine fruitfulness is possible in as much as we remain in the Spirit.”

“God is the source of love. Jesus is the proof of love. We are the agents of love in this world.”

JOHN 5:42 NASB

42 But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves.

1 JOHN 4:16-17 NLT

16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.

1 CORINTHIANS 13:1-3 NASB

1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

“God is the source of love. Jesus is the proof of love. We are the agents of love in this world.”

As God’s “agents of love” we express agape love by:

1. Loving “the least of these.”

2. Loving “the most of these.”

3. Loving “the worst of these.
