O LORD, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.
2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 O Israel, hope in the LORD from this time forth and forevermore.
I. POSTURE OF HUMILITY
PSALMS 131:1 ESV

II. POSTURE OF CONTENTMENT
PSALMS 131:2 ESV
2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.
Weaning is the process of gradually introducing an infant to adult diet while withdrawing the supply of its mother’s milk.
“Until Jesus is enough for us, nothing else will ever be.”
“I asked God for strength, that I might achieve;
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.I asked for health, that I might do greater things;
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.I asked for riches, that I might be happy;
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men;

I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.I got nothing I asked for, but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.

III. POSTURE OF HOPE

3 O Israel, hope in the LORD from this time forth and forevermore.
